I typically get bored when reading books to my niece, as most are spoon fed stories that don't invite much imagination. But not so with this little gem. It truly kept both of us intrigued, and in such a creative way, opened us to discover the heart of a kind and brilliant Creator who loves us for exactly who we are. This is far from a book that shoves doctrinal concepts down the throat of kids, rather it invites them into a world that is wonderful and full of adventure. Would highly recommend this for kids, as well as for adults like me who need to wake again to the grand adventure we have been given in this thing called life. I honestly was quite surprised how much I enjoyed it, as I typically read non fiction. So glad I have a niece now who I can venture with.
If you want fresh and kid friendly views of the Bible look no further!! I hope the series continues!
All books are unique, but The Small Ones stands out in its own special way. I’m never usually into books, especially at my age, but this one has taught me something special. This book has taught me that God isn’t a way–He is the way.
I recommend this book...to someone who needs a poignant reminder that Father God deeply loves us and is always committed to His creatures (us) and His creation!
The author's descriptions of the mischievous angels makes a reader wonder, "What will they do next?" The fact that these 2 angels are invited to go behind "secret golden doors" causes the reader to again wonder, what will these angels see...I can't wait to see what they see either. The descriptive words the writer uses and the pictures the artist drew captivates my reading of the story even more!
In this heavenly escapade the Father tenderly whispers the world into being while keeping a watchful eye on two mischievous ones, considering both more than worthy of His time and power. The reader will slowly and safely be drawn into this world of humor and majesty where the Father delights in everyone. Simply irresistible!! Who wouldn’t want to crawl into His lap for a snuggle and whisper of eternity! It is a tale that is incarnational, breathing fresh life to ”God with us.”

The Small Ones showed me that I don’t have to be perfect for God to love me and that I should choose what I think is right and if someone is doing something wrong, I should help encourage them to do the right thing.

We read this book as well as the first one together as a read-aloud, and my children kept asking me to read "just one more" chapter.
